I just don’t see how you could possibly think that CDO is better than KA

If you say that CDO is better than KA because it has keyvalues, then I should tell you that KA does have local storage(see one of my previous posts for link to example) and that KA does also have HTTP request workarounds(also see previous post)

If you say that CDO is better than KA because it has sprites, then I should tell you that sprites are just any other constructor that you could remake if you’ve really become that dependent on sprites.

If you say that KA is bad because its fast performance promotes unoptimized programming, then you’d be wrong because eventually you will have to learn to optimize if you want to make big programs. I think that teaching optimization to beginners who are never gonna need to utilize it is a mistake, they should instead be taught how to take their dreams and ideas and bring them to life. Then, once they start making cooler, bigger, and more advanced programs, they will learn to code better and more efficiently.

I’ve honestly run out of false ideas to disprove

Give me your reasons against KA, and I’ll shoot them down with ease. I don’t know how to say it any other way, KA is just better than CDO.

ackvonhuelio I'm not disagreeing with you though, I am however arguing about principle KA has a lot more performance along with another learning curve, i am well aware... as for sprites (i am refering to animations the come pre fabbed with the frames already loaded in) thus making it much easier for a beginner to run a game with decent animations rather than having to go out of their way to make their own or load them in and format them seperately, sure keyvalues is another thing but it's not too bad since most games don't need to rely on such

As for my main point of principle of writing unmaintainable code or stuff that looks like literal spaghetti discourages me from actually figuring out how a cool program works, I won't argue that there isn't people who don't optimize their programs and there are even people on CDO who don't just saying that I've seen most people who were forced to make their programs better because their programs ran bad, I've even experienced this myself when working on faster programs and not optimize it because I don't have to

    How about you, then?
Why would you, with your optimized code, prefer CDO?

tbh i dont thing lag is that much of a problem, my game retro world used the laggiest techniques and the lag is only noticeable while viewing the code lol

ackvonhuelio It's not like i made the optimized code on KA which is what I'm saying, sure if i had motivation to make my code better all the time it would make better stuff, perhaps i may start porting stuff over sometimes i do have the urge to tinker with things, just that when most of the stuff is made "good enough" i usually don't make any changes.... tbh any platform has there pro's and con's there just tools I'll just leave it at that for now

Code.org has never been good or useful for making large scale projects which is why I have never made any of mine public. I've created things like Spotify in CDO, making server requests, I've even decentralized the database to another server and documented it all with my source code available for everyone (though you'll still see people complain about how they keep getting hacked - next time, don't log in using user IDs and actually hash your passwords). The state of the site has never been great, and overall the lacking security features makes it unbearable to try and code anything. I've been using Replit on and off in the past 2 years and it is 100x better. I think with code.org I've always liked the challenge of generating new concepts and accomplishing something never even thought of previously, though now it feels stale and there's no real community backing it any longer. For the time being I will stick with Replit and post all of my projects on their site, where I can code peacefully knowing that my app won't be at risk for any poorly coded security risks.

I've had fun on code.org. I remade the actual Photop site on CDO, indirectly made at create data-browser, hell, I've even pirated sports streams on here - but my point is, all of these were back when it was fun to code, when it didn't feel like a burden or like there was a pressure to do so. There's a reason all of the good, creative minds have left code.org already, and it's because CDO offers nothing, and their approach to fixing issues is the equivalent of slapping a Band-Aid on a cut-off leg. Resorting to deleting a person's account is absolutely ridiculous; they've erased a crucial part of that person's experience

        INTERNECION
hey at least they’re not demonitizing us.

        Cause we’re not paid.

Letti42 I say we should band together to make our own.
Wait, how much money does it take to run a website.
        Uh
        Wix????
        Idk??
I mean fr tho, imagine if instead of key values and stuff, we also have a line like “saveVariable” that could be used. That’d be so simple.

i created a steam account a while back but it turns out password sharing a steam account isnt exactly easy

        8 months later

Letti42 Could you quickly tell me how you pirated the streams? Not so much how you got the stream data, but how you displayed it in a CDO project (video player???)

[WUT] Adam They deleted your entire account? Crazy that they can do that without even notifying you first. It's kind of ridiculous that there are a whole bunch of people on CDO who are constantly spamming the project list with remixes, and the few people who are actually creating good projects are the ones getting banned. Sometimes I get the feeling that the people using CDO are smarter than the people running it.

Anyone else interested in staging a mass rebellion?

            yeah this post aged well

Ravage It wasn't displayed on code.org, I had it link to my other website that could stream videos. Although it would be pretty interesting to see if you could make some sort of video streamer on code.org, I've tried before (and failed) and Varrience has attempted it before.
