Hello there!
I see you've been struggling with the amazing world of CDO and i'm here to help!!!
First, let me establish something. I'm apparently not a very good judge of what's insulting and what's not, so by continuing to read, you are agreeing not to start another big argument like the ones that have driven me off of this site twice before.
CDO is a chaotic place. It's an incredible failure of too much and yet too little site moderation. CDO tries to prevent so much through the denial of chatting, commenting, and even profiles(they only give the first letter of a creator's username, XD), and yet it seems like they don't even try to take care of all the shit that's been going around. They don't even care to monitor the reporting system and take down programs by hand, they just make it all automatic.
IDK if y'all have ever read Ender's Game. Anyways, in the book there's a strict system made to be broken. When you take a step back from CDO and begin to look upon the whole thing, it has a shocking resemblance to this 'made to be broken' system. I'm not trying to argue that CDO is a big social experiment, I'm just saying that it's so fucking stupid that the comparison can even be made.
Let's look at the 'good guys'. Intern, if you're reading this, now would be a good time to stop.
The 'good' people can be divided into two groups: programmers and non programmers. Let's look at programmers first.
Programmers include people like WUTAdam. They spend a lot of time making cool projects on a children's programming website, which while I admit sounds kinda stupid, is a fun pastime. Sometimes, however, these programmers put a bit too much effort into a terribly designed website, and people take their work and destroy it. Be it through remixing or 'hacking', the work is destroyed. It's perfectly reasonable to me mad about this, but when you put your time, effort, and trust into a shitty place like CDO it's bound to hurt you eventually.
Now the non-programmers. While i'm not gonna name anyone specifically, there's a lot of nice people(or so i've heard) on CDO who don't know what the frick they're doing. This is expected because CDO, as stated before, is a children's programming website, made for people to learn how to code. However, these people, they don't learn how to code, instead they simply plop themselves into a chat made by a more experienced programmer, 'protect' the chat, and put themselves under the title of 'good'. I can't explain to you just how annoying this is, as these people have no idea what they're doing, and they, if anything, just further incentive the trolls on CDO to hack and destroy the projects that the experienced programmers put time into.
Now let's look at the whole CDO 'chat' situation.
I've said this before... but... WHY DO PEOPLE USE CDO CHATS??? It's just another way for a troll to ruin a person's day.
I get why the chats are made, it's fun to tamper with CDO's anti social format whilst challenging yourself to make a good project, but why are they actually used???!?
It's stupid, I tell you, incredibly stupid. There's websites meant for chatting, so why use the one website built to keep people antisocial? WHY???
And now, to wrap it all up, let's advertise KA(it wouldn't be on-brand for me if i didn't).
Khan Academy, a place where everything is taught adequately
Khan Academy, with pjs, html, and more
Khan Academy, with much faster programs than CDO
Khan Academy, with an automatically refreshing display for pjs so you don't have to constantly click the run button
Khan Academy, with a built in chat for socializing, asking, and helping
Khan Academy, with adjustable display sizes
Khan Academy, with an actual voting system and projects list so you don't just see remixed shit
Khan Academy, with really good moderation so trolls don't take over
Khan Academy, with a giant community of top-tier programmers, innovating and creating daily
Khan Academy, better than CDO in every way
Switch to KA, it's better. Don't believe me? See for yourself: https://www.khanacademy.org/computing/computer-programming/browse
