i mean you could just put an OS on a big enough usb and back it up from time to time, it's funny actually when our school first got laptops was when they were in a rush to get them to students before the possible lockdown because of Rona related stuff, anyways long story short i had BIOS access and i wasn't locked out... plus the guidelines for using the device held you accountable for bricking it but it didn't say anything against booting your own OS hence me running Linux on the machine nothing too crazy i think IT caught on after the first year... though you could just replace the drive, though I think doing what they did now would probably discourage that but man, imagine how cool that'd be to teach as an elective to customize your school laptop and build custom programs

Varrience It would! I think it would be a cool class to take. I've heard that they're making it so schools require CS related classes to graduate which is not a bad idea. If they made that class and had it as an option to take for the CS requirement, it would be the best.

person Apple doesn't really put much care into there desktop builds or laptops, that's from what I've heard at least for me it's way to many clicks to get to where i want probably because I'm not a end user, I'd much prefer Windows (which is pretty bloaty now) or a Linux fork which is getting better with compatibility but still struggles especially if the drivers for it are closed sourced

Varrience Linux is king imo. Windows is great and all and I agree that it's bloated. if you haven't heard of it, there's an extremely unbloated version of windows call tiny. I have a tiny11 (windows 11) vm running and I have to say it's really debloated.

tbh windows is the best your right
it can run stuff like adobe photoshop
some parts in an IPhone use old samsung parts
