This was a post i made CDO Forums. It was sometime in 2022 between November and December. This post also got me banned until January 1st 2023, however, it did have some good points so I wanted to share it here. Also, just to warn ya, this is gonna be another long post. Enjoy!
Hello. These are my thoughts on CDO (code.org, gamelab to be exact)
Okay so first of all I had to name the title "My CDO Thoughts" and not "CDO's Biggest Problems & Issues" because Akismet would have deleted it for 'spam'. That is the first problem, this forum (and most staff in this community) is toxic. Firstly this forum is basically the only way to get support or talk with cdo staff because the support email barely works. There is literally a one in a million chance they even see your message, let alone even respond to it or even read the content. And then, when people try to report problems you "temporarily delete them for spam". And I have literal proof, too. My friend [WUT] Adam told me he got threatened to get blocked from the forums (probably permanently) just because he reported an issue. You guys literally can't take criticism AT ALL.
The next problem is the reporting system, and the project system in general. You made a whole username system but then when you post a project it only shows the first letter? At the very least you could have made it show the full name by hovering it but no, its just the first letter. And at the very most, you could have linked it to a user's profile (if the site had user profiles). Now you may be wondering "Why do we need to even see the full names?". Well, first of all, reporting a user is way more useful than reporting one project. Especially if the projects are being spammed. Speaking of spam, there are spammed projects in the public gamelab projects that have links to a github (The project's called Remix: IMPORTANT). That github has a file named ddd.vbs, and its a fork bomb. I could report the project, but that would only take out one. If I could report a user, then it would be way more affective. And also, seeing the user's full username would reduce the amount of remixing projects with no effort and calling them yours. And that brings us to our next problem.
The next problem is remixing in general. People have gotten other people's projects featured just by remixing it and calling it theirs. But I wont complain because the moderators are obviously braindead because they managed to feature 2 of the same project with an identical name, battle-cars. Anyways that aside, remixing without effort is just bad and annoying. I feel like they should go with an approach like they did with a game called Geometry Dash and add a permanent un-removable icon to a project when its remixed, other than their lazy approach of just adding "Remix: " to the title which can easily be removed in about 2-4 seconds. Anyways, to the next issue!
The featured projects system is just trash. Not because most of the projects in it is trash, but because the moderators don't use more than 5 braincells while featuring projects. For example, The project named: "Remix: Keyboard Combat". Take a few seconds and tell me whats wrong with that. Okay so if you said 'because it is clearly remixed and not made originally', then you are not a moderator! And you are correct. And if you dont believe me I have seen the original project before a long time ago, maybe ask some cdo OG's they might have it. And another example, look at this image for a few seconds, and then tell me whats wrong. If you said 'There are 2 projects that are literally almost the exact same that are featured', Then you have more than 5 braincells! (unlike the moderators smh).
If you have read this far, then you are lucky. Just like I said in the first issue, CDO really can't take criticism, so I will probably get banned for this. However, you may be wondering why I posted this then if I knew that I would get banned. Well first of all, CDO needs to know these issues, no matter how big their ego is, and they really need to pay attention to this. First its projects with fork bombs, whats next, zip bombs? Then how about trojans while we are at it? Anyways, that and all the other issues I represented need to be heard. Someone spread the message before this gets 'flagged for spam' if you know what I mean (;
