Actually guys how about we throw the whole “birds” thing out the window
Like, in the character creator, you could like, choose either a classic penguin, but also like, stardew valley style stuff, robots, aliens, etc. like just add as many base characters as we can.
So 10 I guess?

So like, 2 human bases of differing sizes, and you can use a tint thing to change their skin color.
For eye colors, there is a sprite behind them with another tint thing.
Above these, there are clothes sprites, a top and a bottom. There is then a hair sprite, a hat sprite, and an extra accessory sprite.
Robots have the same thing, but it only affects eyes. For a different color, use a different robot base.
Alien would just be human but weird green, with the eye color having an option to take up the whole eye too.
Maybe also include a single penguin option as an Easter egg.
There will be 3 - 4 robot options, the 2 kinds from murder drones, a chunky basic cartoony robot, and an unidentified auto bot.
Aliens would be : Irkens, Kirby, weird basic alien with large black eyes.
